EL ALAMEIN, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – Al Dahra Agriculture Trading and Egypt’s General Authority for Supply Commodities have formalized a five-year arrangement valued at up to US$500 million for wheat deliveries. This agreement transitions Egypt’s 2023 financing framework into an operational import plan. Under this deal, Al Dahra will supply imported wheat to GASC facilitated by funding from the Abu Dhabi Exports Office. The arrangement specifies the process for procurement under that existing financial program.

The pact was signed at Egypt’s Cabinet of Ministers headquarters in El Alamein on Aug. 26, 2026, in a ceremony attended by Egypt’s Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Farouk, who also presides over GASC. Khadim Abdullah Al Darei, co-founder and managing director of Al Dahra, was present as well. The announcement did not specify details about wheat volumes, shipment timelines, origins, or the pricing structure for purchases made under the agreement.
The financing scheme originated in August 2023, when ADEX and Egyptian authorities established a revolving system for wheat imports. The program was set at US$100 million, with renewals each year over five years, potentially reaching US$500 million in total. Egypt’s ministries of international cooperation and finance collaborated with GASC in that initial initiative. The 2026 supply agreement now provides the operational framework for GASC’s purchases from Al Dahra within this financing structure.
2023 financing plan moves into implementation
ADEX, the export-financing division of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, offers financing linked to purchases from Emirati exporters. In 2023, the office stated that its Egypt facility would support wheat and other vital commodities supplied through Al Dahra. The financing scheme established a five-year transaction framework with GASC. The most recent agreement maintains this structure while setting out the operational terms for Al Dahra’s imported wheat deliveries.
Since 2007, Al Dahra has maintained a presence in Egypt, operating agricultural farms in Toshka and East Oweinat. In 2023, the company reported cultivating roughly 28,000 hectares in the country and supplied over 180,000 tons of wheat to the Egyptian government during the past three years. This week, Al Dahra highlighted that its broader agricultural platform now services over 40 markets worldwide.
Al Dahra’s Egyptian operations date back to 2007
The agreement signed in August 2026 pertains to imported wheat, although Al Dahra also engages in local agricultural production within Egypt. As of 2023, the company identified itself as Egypt’s largest private-sector producer of wheat and corn, with approximately 85% of its Egyptian output entering the local market at that time. The new deal focuses on imported wheat supplied to GASC via the ADEX program, rather than a separate US$500 million financing arrangement.
This five-year agreement formalizes the financing framework announced three years earlier, without establishing a new US$500 million facility. Neither Al Dahra nor GASC has disclosed the total wheat volume covered, nor have they issued an annual shipment schedule, supplier origin details, or pricing specifics. As of Aug. 27, 2026, the arrangement remains a five-year, up to US$500 million wheat supply program under ADEX financing.
